SINGLE OF THE MONTH Recent support for OCS's Simon 'Foxy' Fowler's acoustic tour. Daniel Rachel has a double A-sider as his debut release with cool indie label Dust Records. The talented singer-songwriter has a fine line in clever lyrical couplets, albeit from a leftfield direction (ala Babybird and Badley Drawn Boy). The two tracks demonstrate two facets to Daniel's abilities, 'Burned By The Wire' with its gossamer winged, cascading piano and vocal introduction being the emotive slow burning number that builds and builds to a stunning crescendo, is the powerful string to his bow. Contrastingly, 'Driving 'Round The Bend' sees Daniel heading off into a more of a party type direction. It's a kind of pop, blue-eyed soul workout, a glam style Supergrass meet The Small Faces, while a Parklife era Blur watch over the proceedings, if you like - and you will do too. An impressive double sider from rising star, singer songwriter Daniel Rachel.
